Enjoy scenic and whitewater rafting on the glacier-fed Nenana River bordering Denali National Park.
Choose between two-, four-, and eight-hour rafting adventures that can be scenic and mild or exciting and wild. Both paddle rafts and oar rafts are available; groups must have at least five participants to paddle.
Whether your goal is a quiet, scenic float through the wilderness or a gripping ride through class IV whitewater, the Nenana River has it. Scenic raft trips begin near the Denali Park entrance. The longest trips, which include whitewater through the canyon, travel 36 miles downriver to Healy.
From Mild...
Watch for moose, sheep, caribou, and bears as you slide silently through the water, away from the sound and smell of gas motors. While floating or paddling you travel at the speed of nature, becoming a part of it rather than merely an observer of it.
...to Wild!
Stay with the water through the canyon for a thrilling ride through class IV whitewater rapids. Witness the distant shooshing of water grow louder and louder, and then hang on as the nose of your raft points skyward before plunging down behind a wave, sending glacial water splashing over the bow and you. Gore-Tex dry suits are provided.
Equipment (including dry suits as necessary), expert guides, and round-trip transportation from area hotels are provided. Some trips also include lunch.
Experience real whitewater rafting through Class III and IV rapids on the Nenana River.
Travel as early settlers did, witness gorgeous scenery, watch for wildlife, and hang on for some whitewater!
Enjoy both a scenic float and a thrilling ride on the Nenana River.
The most scenic portion of the Nenana River provides mild whitewater perfect for families.
Watch for wildlife on this scenic mild-water trip, and enjoy a riverside picnic lunch.
