Join us for an all inclusive stay at our remote lodge located in Kantishna, 92 miles within Denali National Park. Most visitors to Denali limit their stay to the crowded and developed Park entrance area. If you are looking for an exciting experience that allows you to take full advantage of your limited Alaska vacation time we recommend joining us at Denali Backcountry Lodge.
Our private bus leaves for Denali Backcountry Lodge daily at 1 pm from Denali Cabins and picks up at Denali train depot at 1:15 pm. Your driver-guide will begin your journey with a narration, giving key information about the history and development of Denali National Park and Preserve. As you follow the restricted Park road keep your eyes out for bears, moose, caribou and wolves as this is their natural habitat and are seen frequently by our buses. Be sure to call out when you spot wildlife, your driver will stop the bus for a better viewing opportunity. At regularly scheduled rest stops including Toklat, Teklanika and Eielson Visitor Center we offer assorted snacks and beverages to our guests.
Arriving at Denali Backcountry Lodge around 7 pm you will be greeted by the property manager and our friendly staff will get you settled in your cozy cedar cabin. Dinner will be served family-style in the Main Lodge offering you a chance to get to know your fellow travelers. One of our Naturalist Guides will go over our daily activity schedule and explain the specific offerings we have for you during your stay at Denali Backcountry Lodge.
After enjoying an Alaskan dinner you may wish to relax upstairs in the lounge of our Main Lodge where we have a bar if you wish to purchase local craft beers, wine or cocktails. Choose to shift your relaxing outdoors, take advantage the midnight sun, have a visit by the fire in one of our creekside gazebos or take a stroll around the property before retiring to your private cabin.
We encourage our guests to plan for at least 2 nights at the lodge as there are so many daytime activities you won't want to miss out on. Naturalist guided hikes will depart every morning and afternoon, be sure to sign up the night before at the Guest Services desk located in the Main Lodge. A staff member will be present to answer any questions you may have about the hikes offered. Other activities included at no extra cost during your stay include mountain biking, gold panning, fishing, natural history presentations, morning yoga, and twice daily shuttles to Wonder Lake.
If you are looking for something special you may treat yourself to a private massage at our exclusive Spa, The Nest located adjacent to the Main Lodge on the banks of Moose Creek. (additional cost)
Fuel your active days exploring Denali National Park with a hearty breakfast served in the Main Lodge from 5-9 am and our Soup & Sandwhich Buffet Lunch served in the Day Lodge from 11:45 am-1:15 pm. Hors d'ourves are served from 5-6 pm upstairs in the Main Lodge with Dinner following at 6 pm downstairs.
On the morning of your departure from Denali Backcountry Lodge we will send a staff member to give you a wake up knock in time to have breakfast before boarding the bus for your departure journey back to the Park entrance. We assure you that although it is the same road you traveled on your way to the lodge, the experience will be a chance to see the breath taking landscape as the sun rises as well as another opportunity to spot wildlife. Your guided bus ride through the Park is included in the price of your stay at Denali Backcountry Lodge, however you may choose to upgrade to a scenic fly out option, weather permitting. Our bus will arrive back to the Denali train depot at the Park entrance by 11:30 am, in time for you to board the train to Anchorage, or if you are not traveling by rail our bus will continue on to Denali Cabins for the rest of our guests to unload, and your stay at Denali Backcountry Lodge concludes.
We hope you choose to include this unique memorable experience in your Alaska vacation; we love to share our property with travelers from all over the world.
